Your husband retires… and you’re still working.

Sounds relaxing, right?

Until he’s reorganizing the kitchen at 10am… while you’re on a Zoom call. 😅

This transition is bigger than most couples expect. It’s not just about finances—it’s about routines, identity, roles, and how your day-to-day life suddenly shifts. When one person retires and the other doesn’t, it can create mismatched schedules, new expectations, and even a little tension if you’re not talking about it openly.

The good news? With a little planning (and a lot of communication), it can actually strengthen your relationship—not stress it.

👉 This blog dives into what to expect and how to navigate it:

Curious—if you’ve been through this (or are heading toward it), what surprised you most?

Was it the schedule shift… the dynamic at home… or something else entirely?

Just because you’re prepared doesn’t mean you’re immune to the emotional weight of change.

When people think about , the first question is usually, “How much coverage do I need?” 🤔

While that’s important, it’s only half the equation. The other often overlooked question is “How long do I actually need all of that coverage?”

💡 That’s where life insurance layering becomes a powerful planning tool; instead of buying one large policy that lasts for the longest possible period, layering allows you to align your coverage with different stages of life and, in the process, reduce overall premiums.

🫣 Life has a way of throwing financial surprises our way. Whether it’s a major home repair, an unexpected medical bill, or a family emergency, these unplanned expenses can disrupt even the most carefully crafted financial plans.

The ideal scenario is that you have at least 3-6 months’ worth of expenses in an easy-to-reach emergency fund. But statistics show that even higher wage earners could have some difficulty covering an unexpected expense – and that’s not necessarily due to poor spending habits. We know you could be juggling a high cost of living, student loans, childcare, and other payments that might take a toll on a six-figure salary.

So, what happens if an unexpected expense arises? The key is knowing who to turn to and what steps to take to minimize the financial impact. 🤝

🤦‍♀️ Logging expenses sounds reasonable in theory, but in practice, it turns into something you're always behind on. Miss a few days, and catching up feels annoying enough that you stop altogether.

The anti-budget flips that order. 🔁

Instead of tracking everything after you spend, you move to savings and essentials first. What stays in your account is safe to use, without needing to monitor every transaction.

This article explains how the anti-budget works, why it feels easier to stick with, and how to set it up so it runs in the background instead of taking constant effort.

Traditional budgeting (and tracking every dime) doesn't suit everyone. If you want a less labor-intensive approach, this alternative may be right up your alley.

🙋‍♀️ We all have one.

Maybe it’s a kitchen drawer full of expired coupons, loose batteries, and old keys. Or maybe it’s digital — that email folder stuffed with unread messages and attachments you swore you’d look at later.

🗄️ Wherever it lives, the “I’ll deal with it later” drawer isn’t really about stuff. It’s a holding place for life’s unfinished business — physical or emotional — that keeps whispering for attention.

The “I’ll Deal With It Later” drawer usually isn’t about laziness. More often, it’s the result of decision fatigue after long days of managing work, family, and everything in between. It can be the fear of discovering something outdated, the uncertainty of not knowing where to start, or the assumption that untangling it will be far more complicated than it actually is.

Over time, these delayed decisions pile up, not just in our homes but in our minds. 🤯

The same thing happens with our : unopened account statements, old paperwork, or even that 401(k) from two jobs ago. Out of sight feels out of mind — until it isn’t.

🏡 You’ve probably heard it before: “Your housing payment shouldn’t exceed 25% of your income.”

It’s one of those financial rules that gets repeated often… but rarely explained. Is it 25% of gross income? Net income? Does it include taxes and insurance? What about student loans, childcare, or retirement savings? 🤷‍♀️

In today’s higher-rate environment, where payments can feel dramatically different than they did just a few years ago, the 25% rule deserves a closer look. 🔎

Let’s break down what that 25% really means and why the right number isn’t the same for everyone. Read today's blog for more. ⬇️
