Everyone sees the business you built. Almost nobody sees the moment you almost gave up.

KayLynn shares the story of year two, four kids, a mortgage, a handful of clients, and a very real fear that the firm might not make it.

Sometimes, what keeps you going isn’t confidence. It’s knowing that someone is counting on you.

If you’re in year two of something hard right now, this is for you. 🤍

You’re paying your bookkeeper every month, but are you actually seeing the numbers?

If your books aren’t being reconciled and you’re not receiving regular financial reports, you may be making important business decisions based on numbers that aren’t accurate.

Your P&L and balance sheet shouldn’t be something you see once a year.

When was the last time you received a monthly financial report?

Comment MONTH.

Worried about an IRS audit? 👀 The goal isn’t to avoid legitimate deductions, it’s to make sure your tax return tells an accurate, consistent story.

Unusual deductions, income that doesn’t match reported forms, and numbers that don’t add up can raise questions. Keep accurate records, report your income, and claim the deductions you’re entitled to.

Don’t fear legitimate deductions. Make sure you can back them up.

A legitimate business expense doesn’t automatically mean you can claim the deduction. 👀

A bank statement proves you spent the money, but not necessarily that it was for business.

Keep your receipts and document who you met with and the business purpose. It takes seconds, and it can make all the difference if your records are ever questioned.

Good records protect good deductions.

A profitable year can turn into a stressful tax season if you haven’t been paying estimated taxes throughout the year. 👀

The IRS generally expects taxes to be paid as you earn income, not all at once in April. Missing payments could mean a surprise tax bill plus an underpayment penalty.

Planning ahead, setting money aside, and making timely estimated payments can help you avoid that April scramble.

09/24/2026

Why does your business look profitable on paper when your bank account says otherwise? 👀

The difference may come down to cash vs. accrual accounting. Cash basis records income and expenses when money moves. Accrual basis records them when income is earned or expenses are incurred.

Same business. Two very different financial stories.

S Corp owners: paying yourself an extremely low salary just to minimize payroll taxes can create a serious tax problem. 👀

S Corp distributions generally aren’t subject to payroll taxes, but the IRS requires reasonable compensation for the services you provide.

The goal isn’t to pay yourself as little as possible. It’s to structure your compensation properly and support it with the right documentation.

Afraid to take a raise because you think you’ll pay more in taxes and take home less? That’s not how progressive tax brackets work. 👀

Only the portion of income that falls into the next bracket is taxed at that higher rate—not your entire income.

Don’t let a tax myth keep you from understanding your paycheck and making informed career decisions.

09/21/2026

A tax write-off doesn’t mean you get your money back. 👀

A deduction reduces your taxable income, it doesn’t erase the cost of the purchase. So before you buy something just because it’s deductible, ask yourself: Does my business actually need it?

The deduction is a bonus, not the reason to spend.

Think a tax extension gives you six more months to pay? Think again. 👀

An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. Interest and penalties can still apply to an unpaid balance after the original deadline.

Extend the paperwork, not the payment.
