We pride ourselves in offering a “one-stop shop” firm for most any of your potential tax, financial and other accounting services needs. You will rarely need to go anywhere else for the services necessary for your growing business or personal needs. We provide traditional and innovative professional services to a diverse industry client base varying in size from the multi-million dollar consolidated businesses to the "mom and pop" retail stores. We are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), and the Panhandle Chapter of the TSCPA. The firm is also a member of the AICPA Center for Audit Quality and is subject to the most stringent peer review process employed by the profession.

This is your one-week reminder. October 15 is the final deadline for individual tax returns that were placed on extension in April. There is no further extension after this.

If your return is still unfinished, don't let it come down to the last 48 hours. Filing late past this deadline means failure-to-file penalties stacking on top of any interest that's already accrued.

As the year winds down and giving season approaches, it's worth knowing that generosity and smart tax planning aren't mutually exclusive.

A few ways charitable giving can work in your favor at tax time:

❤️ Donating appreciated stock instead of cash avoids capital gains tax
📋 Bunching multiple years of giving into one year can push you over the standard deduction
🏦 Donor-advised funds let you give now and decide where it goes later
🎁 Qualified charitable distributions from an IRA can satisfy required distributions tax-free

The key is planning the giving before December 31, not scrambling to document it in April. Happy to help you make your generosity go further.

October 1 marks the start of the fourth quarter, and for anyone thinking about their tax bill, this is the most important stretch of the year.

Everything you do between now and December 31 still counts toward 2026. After that, the door closes. Retirement contributions, equipment purchases, income timing, charitable giving, entity decisions: these are all live options right now, and off the table in January.

The businesses and individuals who finish the year with the smallest tax surprise are the ones who plan in Q4, not the ones who wait for a preparer in April.

If you want to know where you stand and what moves are worth making, let's talk.

This is your two-week warning. October 15 is the last deadline for individual returns that were put on extension back in April. There's no extending it further.

If your return is still unfinished, don't let it slide into the final days. Late filing after the extension deadline means penalties on top of any interest that's already been building since April.

We have availability to get extended returns finished and filed before the deadline. If you've been putting it off, this is the moment to hand it over and stop thinking about it.

As Q4 approaches, the window for meaningful year-end tax planning is still open, but it's narrowing.

The moves that actually lower your 2026 tax bill take a little runway: maximizing retirement contributions, timing income and expenses, making equipment purchases, adjusting how you pay yourself, harvesting investment losses. These work best when there's time to plan them, not when they're rushed in the final week of December.

The next few weeks are the sweet spot. Late enough to have a clear picture of your year, early enough to still act on it.

If you haven't had a year-end planning conversation yet, let's get it on the calendar.

There's a difference between a tax preparer and a financial partner.

A preparer takes your documents and files your return. A partner looks at your whole picture and asks the questions you didn't think to: Should you be structured differently? Are you missing a retirement strategy? Is there a tax move you should make before year-end? What happens to this business when you're ready to step back?

That kind of relationship is what we've built with clients for 50 years. Not once-a-year transactions, but ongoing guidance from people who actually know your situation.

If your current setup only involves your CPA in April, you might be leaving value on the table.

If you have a teenager or young adult with a part-time job, a summer income, or a growing side hustle, there may be a tax side to it worth understanding, for both of you.

A few things parents ask us about:

💼 When does a working teen need to file their own return?
🧾 What happens with a 1099 from a gig or side hustle?
🎓 How do earnings affect financial aid or being claimed as a dependent?
💰 Could a Roth IRA make sense for a young earner? (It often does.)

These are small conversations now that can build good financial habits and avoid surprises later. Happy to help your family think it through.

It's one of the most common questions business owners ask, and one of the most misunderstood. The internet is full of confident, wrong answers about what you can and can't deduct.

The real rule is simpler and stricter than most of the myths: a business expense has to be both ordinary and necessary for your business. Not personal. Not a stretch. Not something you heard about on TikTok.

Legitimate deductions people often miss: home office, business mileage, professional development, software and subscriptions, business insurance, and retirement contributions. Things that aren't deductions: your personal groceries, your regular commute, and your entire vacation because you checked email once.

When in doubt, ask a CPA, not a comment section.

Growth is the goal. But rapid growth has a way of outrunning the systems that got a business to where it is.

The bookkeeping that worked at $500K starts breaking down at $2M. The owner who did their own taxes suddenly has payroll, multiple revenue streams, and decisions that carry real tax weight. Cash flow gets more complicated, not less, even as revenue climbs.

This is exactly the stage where a CPA relationship earns its keep. Not just filing taxes, but helping you build the financial infrastructure to grow without creating problems you'll pay for later.

If your business has grown faster than your financial systems, let's get them caught up.

Today, September 15, is the deadline for third-quarter estimated tax payments.

If you're self-employed, own a business, or earn income that isn't subject to withholding (rental, investment, or S-Corp distributions), you're likely required to make this payment. Missing it or underpaying can trigger an IRS penalty, even if you settle up in full next April.

If today snuck up on you, you're not alone, and it's not too late to sort out. And if you'd rather not be caught off guard by the next one in January, let's talk about getting your estimated payments on a system that works.
