The 2027-2028 FAFSA is now open! 🎓
If you or a student in your family plans to attend college during the 2027–2028 academic year, getting started early can help make the process a little easier.
With that in mind, our team wanted to share a few early steps that can help streamline the process:
🔹Create or verify your StudentAid.gov account.
🔹Gather essential financial documentation, including 2025 tax returns, W-2s, and income records.
🔹Determine which parent(s) or contributor(s) will be required to provide information, if necessary.
🔹Review college, state, and scholarship deadlines, as many institutions award aid on a first-come, first-served basis.
While the federal FAFSA deadline is June 30, 2028, many colleges and states set earlier priority deadlines for aid consideration, so submitting your application early can improve access to institutional, state, and need-based aid.
If you have questions about education funding or how college expenses fit into your family's overall financial plan, Genesis Financial Group is here to help.
