Almost weekly I get approached by people with this or that tax strategy they found out about on TikTok and have been researching (Usally in you tube channels etc). I always tell them there is a nugget of truth in there but it’s been grossly exaggerated and they are being misled.
The IRS has now released data that shows since 2022 they have assessed penalties of $162 million on tax payers following TikTok and other social media sourced advise.
Don’t be misled….talk to your CPA and remember if it’s too good to be true than it’s too good to be true.
