💼 Do You Need to Pay Estimated Taxes?

If you’re self-employed, have a side hustle, or earn income without taxes being withheld, you may be required to make estimated tax payments throughout the year.

💡 Estimated taxes typically apply to:
• Self-employed individuals
• Freelancers & independent contractors
• Gig workers
• Rental or investment income earners

⏰ These payments are usually due quarterly and help prevent penalties and surprise tax bills at filing time.

✔️ The good news:
With proper planning, estimated taxes can be manageable—and stress-free.

Have questions about whether estimated payments apply to you?
We’re happy to help you stay on track!

Myth ❌: If you didn’t make much, you don’t need to file.

Fact ✅: Even if your income was low, filing a tax return can still be important.

You may qualify for credits, refunds, or benefits you won’t receive unless you file. In some cases, filing also helps avoid future issues with the IRS.

📌 When in doubt, it’s always better to check than to assume.

👶Parents — Have You Heard About the New “Trump Accounts”?

Beginning in 2025, qualifying children may be eligible for government seed money to start a long-term investment account — and it’s all tied to your tax return.

Here’s why families are paying attention:
✔️ Some newborns (2025–2028) may receive $1,000 to get started
✔️ Additional funding may be available in qualifying areas
✔️ Annual contributions allowed up to $5,000 per child
✔️ Funds grow through U.S. stock investments
✔️ No withdrawals until the child is 18

While this sounds simple, eligibility rules, contribution limits, and tax treatment matter — especially when planning for your child’s future.

Before you file your 2025 return, let’s make sure:
📌 Your child qualifies
📌 You understand the tax implications
📌 You’re using the strategy correctly

Smart planning today can make a meaningful difference down the road.

💻 Tax Payments: Safe, Secure & Online

For your security and convenience, authorities recommend making Federal and Michigan tax payments online using official government websites.

✅ Why pay online?
• Faster processing
• Immediate payment confirmation
• Reduced risk of lost or delayed mail

🔹 Federal tax payments:
Make payments directly through the official Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website: https://www.irs.gov/payments

🔹 Michigan tax payments:
Pay securely through Michigan Department of Treasury e-Services: https://www.michigan.gov/taxes/mitreasuryeservices

💡 Our tip:
Online payments are the fastest and safest way to stay compliant and receive instant proof of payment.

📬 Important USPS Update!

Effective December 24, 2025, the U.S. Postal Service has implemented a new rule that could impact time-sensitive mail—especially tax documents.

👉 What’s changed?
If you rely on a postmark date, you must now request a manual date stamp/postmark by handing your envelope directly to a USPS clerk at the retail counter.

⚠️ Why it matters:
Dropping mail in a collection box or kiosk may result in a later postmark date, which could affect deadlines.

✅ Our tip:
For anything with a firm due date, always ask for a manual postmark and keep your receipt OR pay online for immediate confirmation.
