Today is Giving Tuesday. In my book Stewarding Your Retirement, I write about the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14–30. God blesses us not just for our own provision, but so we can become a blessing to others.
My son, William “Will” Duggan, is the founder and CEO of Ananias International, a 501(c)(3) committed to serving persecuted Christians and praying for those who persecute them. Will works directly with persecuted believers on the ground.
In Pakistan, thousands of Christian families are trapped in brutal bonded slave labor at brick kiln factories. These factories are owned by Muslims, and the workers, who are Christians, are enslaved through generational debt. A man may have taken a loan 75 years ago, and today his grandchildren are still paying for it. Families are never allowed to leave the compound. They are born there, work there, and die there.
Children as young as two years old work in extreme heat, often over 100 degrees, for up to twelve hours a day. Mothers carry infants on one arm while working with the other. If they cannot afford food from the factory store, the owner loans them more money, deepening the cycle of slavery when the debt is passed down to the next generation.
By God’s grace, Ananias International has already rescued families from these brick kilns. Praise God.
Right now, Ananias International is also under construction on its first safe house for Christians in Pakistan, a place where:
Former bonded slave laborers can receive rehabilitation, care, and discipleship
Christians fleeing false blasphemy accusations can find immediate protection
Our trusted network on the ground can meet urgent medical, legal, and survival needs
And where the Gospel can be shared in places hostile to it
In addition to Pakistan, Ananias International is actively working with persecuted Christians in India and Nigeria, and advocating on behalf of the persecuted with policy makers in the United States Congress.
Lives are being saved. Chains are being broken. The Gospel is moving forward in some of the darkest places on earth.
