Don’t ignore the signs — stomach, colon cancer can hit the young.

“Dr Melvin Look, director of PanAsia Surgery who treated Ms Lee, said that nine in 10 digestive cancers such as stomach and colon cancers occur in older adults above the age of 50.”

“Patients to get more accurate bill estimates at Parkway Pantai hospitals.”

"Over at Mount Elizabeth, Mount Elizabeth Novena, Gleneagles and Parkway East hospitals, patients are getting more accurate bill estimates that vary from their actual bills by 18 per cent on average, the group said on Thursday (Dec 13)."

The size of the hospital bill has always been the centre of our healthcare concerns; kudos to the initiative!

"The committee was tasked by the MOH to focus on fees charged for common surgical procedures by doctors in the private sector for a start, as they are typically one of the "sizeable components" of total hospital bills... Such fees usually make up about 30 per cent of the bill."

Omega 3 fatty acids found in seafood tied to healthy aging.

“Adults should get about eight ounces a week of seafood, ideally by eating it twice a week in place of meats, poultry or eggs, according to U.S. dietary guidelines.

Some options that are high in omega 3s include salmon, anchovies, herring, shad, sardines, oysters, trout and Atlantic or Pacific mackerel.”
