Key Changes

1. New riders won’t cover the minimum deductible — patients pay at least $1,500 before claims start.
2. Co-payment cap doubles from $3,000 → $6,000.
3. Premiums expected to drop ~30% — with savings of about $600/year for private hospital riders and $200/year for public hospital riders.

Why the Changes?

Rider policyholders tend to claim more and at higher amounts. Private hospital bills have grown rapidly, pushing premiums up. These updates aim to make coverage fairer and more sustainable.

What This Means for You

No need to panic — hospitalisation plan changes are normal.
What matters is staying informed and reviewing your coverage regularly.
Good news: premiums should go down, though Medisave usage will increase when claims happen.

If you’re unsure how this affects your plan, I’m here to help.

Singapore's MOH is reforming health insurance riders to combat rising premiums and healthcare costs, introducing new rules from April 2026. Read more at straitstimes.com. Read more at straitstimes.com.
