Self Assessment Season Is Here!
Pay the Right Tax β & Claim What Youβre Owed
The Self Assessment deadline is 31 January 2026 β and whether youβre self-employed, a limited company director, or earning additional income (dividends, rental income, side projects), nowβs the perfect time to get everything organised.
Starting early means:
β
No last-minute stress
β
No missing information
β
And most importantlyβ¦ claiming every expense youβre entitled to πΈ
πΈ Are You Claiming Everything You Can?
Many people miss out on legitimate tax deductions every year. Make sure youβre not one of them:
πΉπ» Working from home? Claim a proportion of electricity, rent, broadband, heating.
πΉπ Business travel? Mileage, parking, public transport β yes. Your commute β no.
πΉβ Client meetings? Meals when travelling or meeting clients = claimable. Lunch at your desk = not.
πΉπ± Phone & Wi-Fi? Claim the business use percentage only.
πΉπΌ Training? Must relate to your current work β not a brand new profession.
Whether youβre self-employed or running a limited company, the key is knowing whatβs allowed.
π Record Keeping = Your Tax Superpower
Good records make tax returns faster, easier and far less stressful:
β
Keep digital or scanned copies of receipts
β
Add a quick note on each expense (e.g. βclient coffeeβ, βZoom subscriptionβ)
β
Track expenses regularly β donβt wait until January
β
Keep records for at least 6 years
Remember: No receipt = no claim (except mileage or approved flat-rate allowances)
