Our international speaker, Marti Kiraly, reminded us that one of the greatest battles we face isn’t in business or leadership—it’s in our own minds and emotions.
According to neuroscience, when we experience emotions like anger, fear, or sadness, our brain releases chemicals that naturally subside after about 90 minutes.
But why do our negative emotions sometimes last for days, weeks, or even months?
Because we keep pressing replay.
We replay the hurt.
We replay the conversation.
We replay the rejection.
We replay the “what ifs” and the “I should have…”
The event may have lasted a minute, but the story we keep telling ourselves keeps the pain alive.
That realization hit me.
We can’t always choose what happens to us.
People will disappoint us.
Plans will fail.
Opportunities will come and go.
But we can choose whether we’ll keep feeding the pain or start feeding our growth.
Healing doesn’t mean pretending nothing happened.
It means acknowledging the pain, learning from it, and refusing to let it occupy more space in our lives than it deserves.
Our future is shaped not just by what happens to us, but by what we repeatedly allow to stay in our minds.
Change your mind first, and everything else begins to change too. 🤍
