TWINSPIRATION! 👩‍🎓👩‍🎓✨
Twin sisters Denise and Bernise Catuncan from Batangas proved that success becomes even more meaningful when it is built on sacrifice, perseverance, and family.
The Catuncan twins both graduated summa cm laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Batangas State University – Nasugbu Campus. Denise finished with a 1.22 general average, while Bernise graduated with a 1.24 general average, making them the first twins in their university’s history to both earn summa cm laude honors.
Their journey, however, was far from easy. After losing their father, the twins were raised by their mother, Bernardita Catuncan, who worked hard as a solo parent to support their education. There were times when their family had to borrow money just to continue their studies, while scholarships helped them stay in school and pursue their dreams.
Instead of immediately pursuing their original dream courses, Denise and Bernise chose a path they believed would help lessen the burden on their family. Through discipline, hard work, and faith, they turned every challenge into motivation to keep going.
Their success became even more historic when both sisters passed the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination and secured the same rank as 16th placers, becoming the first board passers from their university to both place within the Top 20.
Today, Denise and Bernise are both Certified Public Accountants and Certified Management Accountants in the United States, continuing their journey as professionals in the field of accountancy.
More than an academic achievement, their story stands as a powerful tribute to the sacrifices of the person who never gave up on them—their mother.

TOP 5 TWICE OVER! 🏆

Marc Angelo Santos, a working student from University of Santo Tomas (UST), ranked 5th in the 2025 Bar Exam, repeating his Top 5 finish in the 2019 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Exam (CPALE).

Balancing work and law school, Santos admitted, “I must admit it is really hard being a working law student, since you would want to give your 100% in studying… I took it as a challenge from the very start.”

“The CPA licensure exam historically has a low passing rate. So at the time, I was really pressured to pass and do well. I think I carried that discipline and those efforts into my law school and Bar exam review,” he said.
