Here are some common living benefits associated with life insurance:

✅ 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐡/𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Permanent life insurance policies, such as whole life or VUL, often have a cash/fund value component. A portion of the premium paid goes into a cash/fund account that accumulates over time. Policyholders can access this cash/fund value through policy loans or withdrawals, providing a source of funds for various needs.

a. Cash Value — GUARANTEED savings component of a traditional whole life plan; policy holders can use the cash value for premium loan, cash loan, surrender and as maturity benefits

b. Fund/Account Value — NOT-GUARANTEED investment component of a VUL plan; actual values depend on the performance of the assets of your chosen fund, you can do withdrawals [top-ups] from your fund from time to time.

✅ 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐬: Policyholders of permanent life insurance policies may borrow against the cash value of their policy. The loan can be used for any purpose, such as paying for education, buying a home, or covering unexpected expenses. It's important to note that outstanding loans, if not repaid, can reduce the death benefit.

✅ 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞: If you decide to surrender a permanent life insurance policy, you can receive the cash surrender value. This is the amount of money the insurance company will give you in exchange for canceling the policy. Surrendering the policy, however, means you forfeit the death benefit. In the case of VUL plan, full withdrawal of your available funds would mean termination also of the policy.

✅ 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫: This rider provides a lump-sum payment if the policyholder is diagnosed with a critical illness specified in the policy, such as cancer, heart attack, or stroke. The funds can be used to cover medical expenses or other financial needs during the treatment period. Critical illness benefits have evolved over the years, now there are plans that also cover early stage/minor illnesses and late/major critical illnesses till age 100 like Health Start Single/Family by AXA Phil.

✅ 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: If the insured gets totally and permanently disabled, he will be receiving a lump sum payment as income replacement. Some insurance plans also waive suceeding premiums when the policy holder gets disabled.
