Scroll through Facebook Marketplace, and you will see thousands of desperate "Pasalo" (Assume Balance) car listings. People offer to surrender their brand-new cars just to escape the monthly bank payments.

We view this as bad luck. To a financial analyst, this is a Systemic Predatory Trap.

Car dealerships in the Philippines push "Low Downpayment" promos (sometimes as low as ₱20,000) to move inventory. But the math is ruthless. By putting almost nothing down, the buyer is financing 95% of a rapidly depreciating asset at a massive 9% to 12% interest rate over 60 months.

The moment they drive the car off the lot, it loses 20% of its value. If the buyer loses their job in month six, they cannot simply sell the car to pay off the bank, because they mathematically owe the bank more money than the car is actually worth. The "Pasalo" market isn't a place for car deals; it is a digital graveyard of the middle class who financed their own bankruptcy.
