What is a Lapsed Policy?

A policy is ‘lapsed’ when the policy holder misses the premium payments and when the account value of the insurance policy has already been exhausted.

Important points to know about policy lapses.

❤️A policy lapse occurs only after a grace period - kapag po namiss natin ang due date ng ating policy, hindi po automatic na maglalapse ang policy, binibigyan po tayo ng grace period up to 30 days. Once this grace period expires and your premium still remains unpaid, saka lang ito maglalapsed

❤️It is possible to reinstate a lapsed policy. - all is not lost, kung naglapsed po ang inyong policy, pwede naten siyang reinstate within 1 to 3 years simula nung naglapsed sya. Depende din po sa kung anung klaseng policy ang nakuha ninyo.

❤️Taking measures to ensure timely premium payment can help avoid a lapse. We can set up auto debit / scheduled payment para hindi natin makalimutan yung mga due date naten and most of the time nagreremind naman si Prulife UK at ang inyong advisors about it.

❤️It’s advisable to not let your policy lapse. - Even though there are steps you can take para mareinstate ang policy mo, maaring hindi ka ma approve kung may pagbabago sa health mo, marerestart din yung 2 years contestability period once marevive na ito.

What Is Mortgage Redemption Insurance or MRI? 🤔

👉Do Banks Require That I Get One?

A: When applying for a housing loan from a bank, you would be asked to get a mortgage redemption insurance or MRI. An MRI is a form of life insurance that pays off a part or the whole of the insured’s outstanding mortgage balance in case of his or her death or total disability.

If you have an existing life insurance policy, you can assign your policy as your MRI. If you have none, the bank will require you to get an MRI, which usually will be incorporated to your housing loan in lump-sum payment (one-time premium paid annually).

Other people hesitate getting an MRI as it gives them an extra expense, which by the way is considerable. However, with that single investment, you might be saving your family from wallowing in debt or losing the home you have sought to provide them with.
