Good news for LPG and kerosene users and sellers! The BIR has renewed the suspension of excise tax on LPG and kerosene under RMC No. 100-2026, effective September 28, 2026, because crude oil prices remain high. The suspension runs for up to three months, or ends earlier once oil prices fall back under the set threshold. Please note that LPG used as petrochemical raw material or for motive power, and kerosene used as aviation fuel, are not covered. Not sure how this affects your business or your tax returns?

Online sellers, digital merchants, vloggers, and content creators β€” here's some breathing room from the BIR. Under Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 99-2026, the deadline to display your free BIR Registration Seal Badge on your website, e-marketplace page, or social media has been extended to October 31, 2026, with no penalty for late display before that date. The badge itself has been required since April 2026 under RMC No. 38-2026, so if you haven't posted yours yet, now's the time to log into the BIR's Online Registration and Update System (ORUS) and get your free QR-coded badge before enforcement kicks in. If you're not sure whether your online business is covered, or you need help getting registered and compliant, we're happy to walk you through it.

β€œHow long should I actually keep my accounting records?”
At minimum, 3 years from your filing date β€” the BIR's regular assessment window. But if there's any chance of a dispute over a fraudulent or unfiled return, that window extends to 10 years. When in doubt, keep it longer, not shorter.
