From 37 pesos to this.
We were in line, paying for a lot we recently bought.
I asked him to buy some snacks from 7/11. Nung bumalik siya, sabi niya:
“Memorable sakin yung 7/11 na yun.“
I knew it was gonna be a good story….
Many years ago, madalas siyang nasa area na yun ng Ortigas as a student wanting to make money from sales and marketing.
At nung wala pa siyang resulta, he often passed by that 7/11, tired and hungry.
Pero hindi siya makabili. Sabi niya:
“Naalala ko, 37 pesos kailangan ko para makauwi. Pero bente lang meron ako.”
So, kahit wala pang nakain, he walked that whole stretch of Ortigas to hop on a bus that would cost him less than 20 pesos to get home.
I looked at him proudly. Alam ko kung saan na siya dinala ng buhay at kung anong meron na siya ngayon.
From 37 to this — traveling monthly, enjoying our money, and buying real estate whenever we want to.
We all start somewhere. Lahat tayo may kwentong “pang 37 pesos”.
