LTO STATEMENT
August 8, 2025
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) would like to clarify earlier reports of imposition of penalties for motor vehicle owners who would fail to claim their respective license plates and continue using improvised plates.
There is no such order from both the Department of Transportation and the LTO Central Office.
Right now, all our personnel were directed to focus on exhausting all the measures, strategies, initiatives and partnerships with as many groups to comply with the instruction of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. to release all the license plates within three months after the LTO was able to wipe out the backlog on June 30.
We encourage all motor vehicle owners with unclaimed original and replacement plates to secure them in the soonest possible time-either through our online platform LTOTracker which also provides courier service, or through our offices across the country.
We also instructed all our Regional Offices and District Offices to intensify the information drive on any plate distribution initiatives and programs in order to reach as many motor vehicle owners, especially motorcycle riders.
Meanwhile, we commend all the Regional Offices and District Offices that are implementing good practices in speeding up the plate distribution as we continuously monitor the progress of the distribution process across the country. #
