This claim will always be one of the most emotional ones I have ever processed.
On December 14, my mother suffered a myocardial infarction (heart attack) and had to be rushed to the hospital for the second time in just a few weeks. As her child, seeing her go through that was one of the most painful and helpless moments of my life.
In the middle of fear, hospital bills, and uncertainty, I found myself wearing two roles at once, a son and a financial advisor.
While all I wanted was for my mom to recover, I also had to stay strong enough to process her insurance claim and make sure everything was handled properly. Every form, every requirement, every follow-up felt so much heavier because this time, it was deeply personal.
Then on February 13, the claim was finally approved and credited to her account.
Seeing that amount reflected in her bank account was more than just money coming in. It was relief in one of our family’s most difficult moments. It meant we could focus on what truly mattered most, her healing, recovery, and peace of mind.
This experience reminded me in the most personal way possible why insurance is never just about numbers or paperwork.
It is about being prepared for the moments we pray never happen.
It is about protecting the people we love the most.
It is about giving your family breathing room when life suddenly changes.
Processing my own mother’s claim after her heart attack broke me, strengthened me, and deepened my purpose all at once.
Today, I am simply grateful. Grateful that we planned ahead, grateful that the policy did what it was meant to do, and most of all, grateful that my mother is still here with us.
This is exactly why I will never stop advocating for financial protection.
