If you're expecting to pay more than $5,000 in income tax for the year, IRD wants you to pay it in instalments throughout the year, rather than one big bill at the end.

We asked ChatGPT whether it could replace a qualified bookkeeper. And to its credit - it was pretty honest about it.

AI is a great tool. We use it ourselves. But when it comes to your GST returns, your IRD obligations, your payroll, and the financial health of your business - "it's best used alongside a qualified bookkeeper" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that answer.

Because here's the thing. A real bookkeeper knows your business. They spot the thing that doesn't look right. They remember that you had an unusual expense in Q3. They pick up the phone when something needs sorting before it becomes a problem.

AI can't do that. We can. 😊
