With all the recent KiwiSaver news in NZ, a lot of people are starting to ask questions about whether their KiwiSaver is actually set up properly for them.

And that’s the important part.

Not your neighbour.
Not your workmate.
Not whatever fund you were automatically placed into years ago.

Your settings should match:
• Your age
• Your goals
• Your timeframe
• Your comfort with risk

Because being in the wrong fund can make a significant difference over time.

A common misconception is that KiwiSaver is just about finding the lowest fees.

Fees matter — but what really matters is your returns after fees, and whether your fund is aligned with your situation.

The good news is most people don’t need to make huge changes — they just need clarity.

I help make the review process simple, quick, and easy to understand.

And yes — the advice process is free for clients, as I’m paid by the provider if changes are made.

If it’s been a while since you reviewed your KiwiSaver, now’s probably a good time to check it.

The easiest $130k you’ll ever make 👇

Here’s one of the most simple KiwiSaver wins I share with clients every single week and honestly, more people should know about it.

When it comes to KiwiSaver, there are two big decisions:

▪️Your provider
▪️And your fund type

Today we’re talking fund type.

Most people sit in a Growth fund. That usually means about 80% of your money is invested in shares and property, with the rest in more stable assets like bonds and cash.

An Aggressive fund? That’s closer to 100% in shares and property.

So what’s the difference?

Growth assets go up and down more in the short term, but over the long term, they tend to deliver stronger returns. And because KiwiSaver is a long term investment, those short term ups and downs matter a lot less than the end result.

Here’s what that looks like in real numbers:

Starting with $60,000
Adding $7,261 each year
After 25 years:
Growth fund ≈ $654,000
Aggressive fund ≈ $785,000

That’s over $130,000 difference.

Same person, same income,same contributions.
Just a different fund choice.

Yes, an Aggressive fund will feel more volatile at times. That’s normal.

But if you’ve got time on your side, that extra exposure to growth assets is often what helps your money work harder.

If you’re not sure what fund you’re in or whether it’s right for you, it’s worth checking. This is one of those small decisions that can quietly make a six figure difference to your future.

We offer free 30 minute KiwiSaver check ins if you want a second opinion 😊

Kia ora, hope everyone is safe and warm...

One thing I see all the time when reviewing mortgages:

Two people can have the same loan amount, same income… and still pay off their mortgage years apart.

Not because one is working harder or paying more.

But because their mortgage is structured differently.

Most people are set up in a way that’s simple… but not necessarily efficient long term.

And the banks don’t usually revisit this with you unless you ask.

That means:
👉 You could be paying more interest than you need to
👉 Or taking longer to pay it off than necessary

Without even realising it.

It’s not about making big sacrifices — often it’s small structural tweaks that make the biggest difference over time.

So if you haven’t had your mortgage reviewed properly (not just refixed) in a while, it’s worth asking the question.

Is your mortgage actually working for you?

Happy Friday! Been having a lot of interesting chats this week! There’s a lot of noise out there right now…rates shifting, cost of living creeping up, and a general sense of uncertainty about what’s next.

And when things feel uncertain, most people don’t make big changes — they just hope things settle.

But here’s something worth thinking about:

👉 Your biggest financial commitment is likely your mortgage
👉 And for most people… it hasn’t been reviewed in years

Not because you’ve done anything wrong — just because life gets busy.

The thing is, small changes to how your mortgage is structured can make a significant difference over time. Not just in interest, but in how quickly you move forward.

So a simple question:

When was the last time you actually reviewed your mortgage — not just the rate, but the structure?

If it’s been a while, it might be worth a second look.

No pressure, no assumptions — just understanding where you’re at and whether there’s a better way forward.

If you’re curious, feel free to reach out. Happy to have a chat!

Up the wahs! 🤣
