Do we use AI at Pay The Nanny?

The answer is yes, but probably not in the way you think.

We use AI to help improve systems, streamline internal processes and support our team behind the scenes.

What we don't use AI for is payroll decisions, customer service or handling your personal information.

When you email us, you'll always hear from a real person. When your payroll is processed, it's reviewed by a real person. And your data is never used to train AI models.

We believe technology should support great service, not replace it.

πŸ’œ Modern technology. Real people. Better payroll.

πŸ‘‹ Meet Mark

Mark founded Pay The Nanny in 2019 after seeing how complicated payroll and employment obligations could be for families hiring nannies and au pairs.

What started as a small New Zealand business has since grown to support families across both New Zealand and Australia, with an amazing team helping manage payroll, leave, tax, superannuation, KiwiSaver and compliance every day.

✨ Agency Spotlight: Au Pair Link ✨

This month we're shining the spotlight on the fantastic team at .

For over 20 years, they've been helping New Zealand families find trusted au pairs from around the world. Their personalised approach, industry experience and ongoing support make the process simple for both families and au pairs alike.

As we head towards the busier childcare season later in the year, now is a great time to start planning ahead. The best au pairs are often secured well before they arrive in New Zealand, so getting organised early can make all the difference.

Can I pay my nanny as a contractor?

It's one of the most common questions we get from families across New Zealand and Australia.

While every situation is different, the answer is that most nannies are employees rather than contractors. That means things like tax, leave, superannuation (Australia) and other employment obligations may apply.

Getting it wrong can create compliance issues down the track, so it's worth understanding the rules before hiring.

We've put together a practical guide covering what families need to know, the key differences between employees and contractors, and why most nanny arrangements don't fit a contractor relationship.

Being a nanny is so much more than just childcare.

Nannies play an important role in supporting families, helping children learn and grow, and keeping busy households running smoothly.

That's why we're passionate about helping families employ their nannies properly, with payslips, tax, leave and all the things that come with being a valued employee.

Because nannying isn't just a job. It's a profession.

We recently spoke with ABC News about the outdated superannuation rules impacting nannies and domestic workers across Australia.

At Pay The Nanny, we believe nannies deserve the same workplace rights and protections as any other employee, which includes fair access to superannuation.

This is an important conversation for both families and carers. Most employers simply want to do the right thing, while nannies deserve an industry that reflects the professionalism and value of the work they do every day.

The current 30-hour rule no longer reflects the reality of modern childcare employment, and we welcome the growing awareness around the issue.

We hope to see continued progress toward a fairer and more professional nanny industry for everyone involved. πŸ’œπŸ’œ
