There’s a big difference between property investing and property speculation.

A true investor buys with a long-term view—focused on rental returns, affordability, and the ability to hold through market cycles. Short-term price movements shouldn’t dictate their strategy.

If someone is under pressure to sell purely because the market has slowed, it often points to over-leverage or a reliance on capital gains rather than solid fundamentals.

That said, not every distressed seller is reckless—interest rate hikes and changing conditions have tested even well-structured portfolios.

The real lesson?
Sustainable investing isn’t just about getting into the market—it’s about having the resilience to stay in it when conditions turn.

New Zealand's property market is facing another slow patch - leaving some owners wondering what to do next.

Partner Spotlight | North Wellington FC

We are wrapped to have the TFS Chartered Accountants behind us as the back-of-shirt sponsor for our Men’s 1st Team this season.

Based right here in Wellington, TFS is far more than just an accounting firm. They are a comprehensive business partner offering everything from chartered accounting and financial planning to payroll management and smart technology solutions. Their focus is on helping local businesses reach their full potential by turning financial data into actionable knowledge.

In football, having a strong "back line" is what gives the rest of the team the confidence to move forward. TFS provides that exact same stability for business owners, taking care of the complex stuff like tax minimisation and HR so that their clients can stay focused on their goals.

Their support is a massive boost for our 1st Team and the wider club. It helps us ensure our players have the resources they need to compete at the highest level, while remaining a club that is relevant and accessible for our Johnsonville community.

A huge thanks to Yunus and the whole team at TFS for their continued commitment to North Wellington FC.

The Monetary Policy Committee today agreed to keep the Official Cash Rate on hold at 2.25%. Inflation is expected to be back within our 1-3% target range in the first quarter of 2026.
The economy is at an early stage of recovery, and growth is expected to increase over 2026. Any future moves in the Official Cash Rate will depend on how the economy unfolds.
