We are beyond proud to share that Paul was awarded Outstanding Specialist Mortgage Adviser (New Zealand) at the Kiwi Adviser Network Awards last night🏆

This is an extraordinary achievement, and one that is so thoroughly deserved.

Since joining Finsol, Paul has worked tirelessly with complete commitment to his clients. His dedication to doing right by the people who trust him has led him to the forefront of the mortgage space and ultimately earned him recognition as New Zealand's top specialist mortgage adviser. That's no small feat, and it is a direct reflection of the incredible adviser he is.

What makes this even more remarkable is that Paul has achieved all of this while also building Finsol from the inside as a director.

A lot of people come to us thinking they need help with one specific thing, and sometimes that’s exactly it.

But more often than not, once we start talking, other things come up: KiwiSaver that hasn’t been looked at in years, a home loan structure that could be working harder, insurance gaps, or money sitting in a bank account with nowhere to go 🧐

It’s not that people haven’t thought about these things; it’s that when you’re in the midst of it all, it can feel overwhelming.

Over the last few years, we’ve had hundreds of these conversations with Kiwis from all walks of life, and they’ve completely changed the way we think about advice. We realised people didn’t always just need help with the one thing they came in for. They need someone to zoom out and look at the whole picture with them 🔎

So that’s what we started doing, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

We call it a financial review, and the idea is simple: your finances don’t exist in isolation, so we don’t treat them that way. We show you how all the financial pieces connect, and as a result, everything tends to feel a lot clearer.

We’re genuinely proud of this shift. It’s become quite unique in the financial advice space, and it’s what drives us to stay one step ahead for our clients.

Gareth Dobson and Paul Ejamme - Finsol Financial Adviser have both been named finalists for Outstanding Insurance Adviser Metro, with Paul also recognised in the Specialist Mortgage Adviser category.

Finsol Financial Advisers has also been nominated for Outstanding Advice Business, five plus advisers.

He started investing for her shortly after she was born, adding small amounts consistently. Today, her portfolio sits at over $13k - showing the magic of starting early ✨
Gareth created a simple rule for her piggy bank savings:

💰 10% to spend now
📈 90% to invest for later

She's now genuinely taking an interest in her investment portfolio and understands the basic principle: she owns a tiny part of a company (or many companies), and if that company grows, her investments grow too.

For her portfolio, he used Kernel Wealth, a simple, low-cost platform popular with Kiwi families starting their kids’ investing journey.

You don’t have to leave your retirement savings behind. If your fund is eligible, you can transfer your Australian super into KiwiSaver and bring everything together in one place. This makes it simpler to see your full savings, plan for retirement, and manage everything in NZ dollars.

💸 Why leaving it there isn’t ideal

Keeping your super in Australia isn’t risky, but it can mean paying extra fees, juggling different rules, and struggling to get a clear picture of your retirement plan. Consolidating your savings gives you clarity, control, and makes planning a lot easier.

📝 We handle the process

🎯 KiwiSaver consultation first

Before we move any money, we always start with a KiwiSaver consultation. This ensures your KiwiSaver fund aligns with your current goals, future plans, and investment timeline, so your strategy stays personalised and fit for your retirement.

🐨 What you can transfer

Most Australian super funds can be transferred, including workplace, retail, and industry funds that are APRA-regulated. Once in KiwiSaver, your Australian savings are ring-fenced. While these funds can’t be used for first-home withdrawals, you can access them from age 60 under Australian retirement rules, five years earlier than NZ’s standard retirement age.
