Banks are starying to roll out the PAYEE confirmation system.
What this means is when a payment is made online and the Payee entered does not equal the account name the system will warn the payer that the names might be similar or dont match.
What does this mean for your business?
If your trade name is different to the entity legal name, customers will be getting warnings that the names do not match.
In a world people are becoming more aware of scams this might mean your customer don't make payment until they confirm the right details.
What can I do about it?
Best thing will be to educate your customers of the correct Payee name to be used. Include the Payee name with the bank account number on your invoices and include a reiminder in any covering email sent with your invoices.
