Spiral Hope Universal Foundation marked the 2025th International Day of the Boy-child with over 150 boys in Christian Secondary Commercial School, Uyo on the 16th of May.

This year's theme: Building self-esteem in boys: stand up, be heard, be seen was x-rayed in remodeled focus; From Golden Boy to Golden Man: the tale of a boy-child.

On ground to engage the students in thoughts provoking presentations and interactions included OAP and development partner Okodi Okodi , celebrity Teens Coach Mekeat Dajuma, Representative of the NDLEA, and Psychologist Extraordinaire Dr. Mfon Ineme.

The foundation, led by its founder, Mr. Aniefiok Ekpenyong ( Audacity Ekpenyong ) and the project lead, Dr. Asua Asua, had in it's team Messrs Mfon Brownson, Uduak Dan (Udodee), Mkpoikana Akai, Ifiok Umoren, Dr. Lawrence Obinaju, Ibokette etc.

The Students and Management of CSCS expressed their gratitude to SHUF, emphasizing the worth of the event in the short and long-run.

SHUF, is dedicated to Climate Change and Human Capacity Development.

THE MISSING MESSAGE OF HOPE

There is always hope in every situation.
In Nigeria, I think we have spread more fear than hope about this COVID-19. Panic messages have over exaggerated the situation beyond the reality.

Disease outbreak is not new but the management techniques are never the same, in 165AD the world had Antonine plague that killed about 5 million, 541to 542AD the world had Justinian plague that killed about 25 million, in 1353 the world had The Black Death that killed about 75 to 200 million, 1918 Flu pandemic killed up to 50million, laser fever and Ebola of recent times killed more than the COVID-19 though with their different escalation methods, yet there was hope, we survived them all.

Before fear and panic kill the people more than COVID-19, let us preach hope also, let people know about the management of the situation, tell the story of survival. Gov. Makinde, Gov. Bala Muhammed, Gov, El-Rufai, Atiku’s son even Abba Kyari the CoS to the president etc have survived it.

People are discharged and certified free on daily basis. Tell the public what was administered to them; let’s know what they were fed. Tell the people what to eat to boost the immune system, as government and other public spirited persons share palliatives, some immune system booster supplements could be added along. Encourage people to eat food that boost immune system alongside observing the other preventive measures.

COVID-19 is not a dead sentence. Paint the picture hope also. Let the people not die of fear and panic…
