If you desire to get out of the long queue of poor people in life, you must be willing to put in the work. You must be ready to think, learn, and make sacrifices.

Many times people come to me and say “Please help me sir, I want to make money online but I don’t know how to start.” Well, how to start is not as important as what to start. The first step to financial freedom is knowing what to do.

What kind of business do you want to do? How profitable is the business? Is there a market hungry for it already? How will you reach the hungry market? What are your value propositions? Will the business require capital? (Of course some businesses don’t require initial capital e.g writing).

If you’re able to answer these questions, then you can write a business plan. A business plan is just a foresight of what you want to do in your business and the future projections of your business. Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?

It takes a lot of commitment and consistency. If anyone ever tells you you’re going to get rich quick, it’s a big lie. True wealth comes through consistency and perseverance.

SOMETIMES IT TAKES A LOT OF COURAGE TO STICK TO YOUR FINANCIAL GOAL

Have you set your financial goal for the month? Oh you've not.... So what's delaying you 🤷‍♂️

You see, I've come to realize that it sometimes take a whole lot of courage to follow through with your financial goals. Why? Because you need to deny yourself of a lot of things.

I could remember when I was serving as a corp member. At a time I had over 150k in my nysc account, yet I still drink garri. Sometimes I don't even eat dinner. I denied myself of a lot of things because I had something I was pursuing.

I even had to reduce the monthly allowance I was sending to my siblings (don't be surprised that I send money home when I as a corp member). I knew the money wasn't enough, but I had to take that courage and also discipline myself.

I didn't but clothe, I didn't buy shoes, I didn't buy anything.... But I made sure I didn't starve myself anyway 😂😂😂

What I'm saying in essence is that, you can't achieve anything meaningful in life unless you are courageous enough to stand your ground in spending wisely.

If I have a financial goal I'm pursuing, even if you see packs of money on my table I will tell you there's no money ni.... Even if you're crying that you want to buy something, I'll have to weigh it and see if it's really necessary or not.

Wasteful spending is one of the reasons many will remain poor for life.

Be courageous. Stand your ground. Don't let unnecessary material things entice you.

Know what to do with money and do it when necessary.

📌📌FINANCIAL GOAL SETTING 🎯🎯

What is a goal?
A goal is a proposed result. A goal is something you'll like to achieve within a specific period of time.

Goals could be financial or non-financial. But tonight I'll only speak about the financial goal.

For a goal to be achievable, it must be:
Realistic;
Timely;
Quantifiable; and
You must have capacity.

Why do we set goals?
To be specific in our pursuit;
It guides against unnecessary spending;
It's helps develop self-discipline;
We become more productive when we set goals

How do you set financial goals?
Follow the steps 👇👇👇

#1. Know what you want to achieve;
#2. Estimate how much you need to achieve it;
#3. Decide how much you need to earn to meet that goal;
#4. Write a list of your sources of income;
#5. Share your income using the 50/30/20 rule;
#6. Open a separate account specifically for your goal;
#7. Save in a certain amount regularly (daily, weekly or monthly depending on the goal you want to achieve)
#8. Restrain yourself from drawing out of the account. Put measures such as refusing to request for a debit card, or asking your spouse to reset your transaction password without telling you.
#9. Evaluate yourself from time to time to see if you're really reaching the goal

Final word

It is easy to set goals but more difficult to implement it.
Therefore if you want to achieve that result you'll need to:
Discipline yourself;
Be consistent;
Don't lie to yourself by setting unrealistic goals. It often ends in frustration;
Be accountable to someone that is passionate about your success (but be careful who you discuss your next move with)

Personally, most times I don't tell people what I'm up to until it's done.
