If you run a registered business in Nigeria, compliance isn't optional. It's part of running a business well.
Your CAC registration is more than a certificate. It gives your business legal recognition, but you also need to keep it active by filing your annual returns.
Tax compliance matters too. Depending on your business, you may be required to register with the relevant tax authority and file returns. Many business owners don't realise this until penalties begin to accumulate.
If you have employees, you're responsible for deducting and remitting PAYE every month. Missing this obligation can create unnecessary problems with the tax authorities.
Some industries also require additional licences or approvals beyond CAC registration. Being registered with CAC alone doesn't always mean you're fully compliant.
The good news is that compliance doesn't have to be confusing. Once you know what applies to your business, staying on top of it becomes much easier.
