What’s next for Perak’s halal industry?

Greater investment, stronger industrial capabilities, and export readiness will be critical in shaping Perak’s next phase of halal growth.

Today, 2 October 2026, HDC participated in the Majlis Pembangunan Industri Halal (MPIH) Negeri Perak Meeting No. 1/2026 held at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan. The meeting was chaired by YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Zolkafly bin Harun, Chairman of the State Committee for Rural Development, Plantations, Agriculture and Food Industry.

HDC was represented by our CEO, En. Hanisofian Alias, who shared strategic insights on halal investment and trade performance, highlighting priority areas to strengthen Perak’s halal ecosystem, attract high-value investments, expand export participation, and drive sustainable industry growth.

Perak recorded RM275.25 million in approved halal-related investments across 12 projects between 2024 and June 2026, signalling growing investor confidence in the state's halal sector. Among the key developments is the Perak Halal Industrial Park in Lekir, Manjung, which includes a planned halal gelatin manufacturing facility that could strengthen Malaysia’s halal ingredient supply chain while creating new opportunities for local businesses to participate in higher-value halal production activities.

Beyond attracting investment, export readiness remains a key focus. While Malaysia continues to expand its global halal footprint, only 14.7% of halal-certified companies were exporters in 2025. Unlocking Perak’s export potential will require greater support in areas such as production capacity, regulatory compliance, market access, and international business matching, enabling more local companies to compete and grow in global markets.

HDC remains committed to working closely with the Perak State Government and relevant stakeholders to facilitate quality investments, strengthen industry capabilities, and expand market access, positioning Perak as a stronger contributor to Malaysia’s growing halal economy.
