On 28 February 2025, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued the Third Edition of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of financial reporting for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Effective from 1 January 2027, this revised standard introduces key enhancements drawn from full IFRS Accounting Standards, while preserving the accessibility and cost-effective application that SMEs depend on.
In response, the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) released Exposure Draft 80 in June 2025, proposing to update the Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standard (MPERS) to fully align with the IFRS for
SMEs (February 2025), with the same effective date of 1 January 2027.

taxpayers with an annual turnover of more than
RM100m on August 1, 2024; for taxpayers with
turnover of more than RM25 million until RM100
