Celebrating 80 Remarkable Years 🎂✨

On 11th September, we had the privilege of celebrating the 80th birthday of our beloved founder, Mr. Priya Edirisinghe , whose vision gave birth to Baker Tilly Edirisinghe & Co.

In 1985, at the age of 40, he stepped away from a successful career in the commercial sector to begin something of his own. With just two employees and a clear vision to serve SMEs and large private companies with high-quality, ethical, and fairly-priced professional services, he laid the foundation for what has become one of Sri Lanka’s most trusted firms.

The early days were not easy. He often recalled waiting for the phone to ring, hoping for new clients. But through determination, hands-on leadership, and an unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity, the firm steadily grew. A key milestone was securing our first client Pheonix O & M (Pvt) Ltd / Ogilvy Sri Lanka and our first overseas client, Mr. K. Ismail from the Maldives, who entrusted us with the audits of his hotels.

True to his forward-thinking approach, we were also among the first firms in Sri Lanka to adopt computers in 1985, setting the tone for innovation that continues to drive us today.

From those humble beginnings, we have grown to a team of 200+ professionals, guided by the same principles of quality, fairness, and professionalism that he instilled from day one. Beyond building a firm, he built a community always emphasizing family values, morals, and the importance of doing business ethically.

Today, his legacy continues to inspire us and shape everything we do. 💙
