CBDT has categorically stated that all PAN holders, who do not come under the exempt category as per Notification No. 37/2017, dated May 11, 2017 and have not linked their Aadhaar with PAN yet, are requested to do so immediately. Failure to do so will lead to the unlinked PAN becoming inoperative.

It is very important and mandatory to link your Aadhaar with your PAN.If you don't then your Pan will become in-active.As per some source many individuals are saying that NRI,not a resident of india, senior citizens above 80 years, and the residents of jammu and kashmir, assam and meghalaya ;they don't have to link their aadhaar with PAN but its not true,They all have to link before 30th of june 2023 as refer in notification 37/2017.if they fail to link they will face many problems like ITR filing, return verification and refund processing. Also they can suffer from many problems in financial institutions like KYC and et-cetra.
So,every one is requested to please link their Aadhaar with their PAN asap..

The Income Tax Department, on November 1, 2021, launched a new statement for taxpayers called the Annual Information Statement (AIS). As per chartered accountants, the new AIS will provide the taxpayer with details of most digital financial transactions carried out by him/her during a financial year (FY).

Within a few days of announcing various amendments to Form 26AS, the Income Tax Department has rolled out a new Annual Information Statement (AIS). The AIS will include detailed information of a taxpayer’s foreign remittance, mutual fund and other securities transactions, apart from details of the tax collected at source (TCS) and tax deducted at source (TDS).

Simply put, AIS will help taxpayers see most of the tax-related information on various incomes in one place. This will make the income tax return (ITR) filing process easier for taxpayers. Here is what you need to know about AIS.
The tax department has confirmed that Form 26AS will be there till the time AIS is fully operationalised. In Budget 2021, the tax department had announced that a revised Form 26AS, known as Annual Information System, would be available with more comprehensive details.

AIS will be automatically generated and updated on a real-time based for transactions where PAN (permanent account number) is required. If there is a mistake or anomaly in AIS, the taxpayer can approach the tax department and get it corrected.
