Salient Features of National Pension Scheme ( NPS ) :
1) Age Limit : 18 to 65 Yrs.
2) The scheme is Open for both Resident Indians and NRIs.
3) A Permanent Retirement Account Number ( PRAN ) will be issued to all NPS Account Holders.
4) NPS Account can be opened by visiting POP-SP ( Point of Presence - Service Provider )
Or visiting the Website www.enps.nsdl.com .
5 ) The first minimum contribution for NPS Scheme is Rs.500/-
6) NPS Account can be opened by individual persons only . NPS Account can not be opened Jointly or on behalf of HUF .
7) Investment in NPS is eligible for Deduction from Gross Total Income for an Investment upto Rs 50000 under section 80CCD(1B) of The Income Tax Act , 1961 .

Tax Deduction For RAM TEMPLE :

The holy site for the construction of Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been categorised as " a place of historical importance and a place of public worship of renoun" by the Central Board Of Direct Taxes.
The CBDT has taken this step by issuing Notification No. 24/2020 Dt. 08.05.2020.
As a result, Donation for Ram Mandir construction made to the trust named " SHRI RAM JANMABHOOMI TEERTH KSHETRA " will be eligible for deduction under section 80G(2)(b) of The Income Tax Act, 1961.
Hence donations made for this purpose, will qualify for deduction from gross total income to the extent of 50% of of the donation made, for the Financial Year 2020-21.

Update : RELIEF TO NRIs :
The Central Board Of Direct Taxes by Circular No. 11of 2020 , has decided that for the purpose of calculation of Residential Status and the stay in India u/s 6 of The Income Tax Act, for NRIs, who have been unable to leave India from 22nd March, 2020 to 31st March,2020, the period of forced stay in India due to Covid19, shall not be taken into account for the calculation of Residential Status.
