The Defence Accounts Department (DAD) which has evolved over the last 250 years, is responsible for payment, accounting, financial advice and internal audit of expenditure of the Army, Navy, Air force, Ordnance Factories, R & D and inter service organizations. The Department is in the service of the services since 1747 and it is one of the oldest department under Govt. of India .

The District Level Table Tennis Championship Tournament is organised annually by DARC Kannur in memory of Late Shri Subramany ,Sr Auditor who expired in 1975. He was a talented Table tennis player and Sports Secretory of DARC Kannur when he expired.There is active participation in the tournament from Schools, Colleges and other sporting clubs in and around Kannur district for the Mani Memorial Ever rolling Trophy. Deputy Commandant DSC Lt Col KK Sinha was the Chief Guest .
