Matt Kenny didn't wait to be picked for the team. He built it.

Yes, Matt is a client of mine. He is a new immigrant to Israel and has loved flag football even before he came here.

It is a sport most Israelis have barely heard of. It has just been recognised as an Olympic sport, starting at Los Angeles in 2028. And apparently Israel's team is genuinely strong, with an outside chance at a medal.

Here was Matt's problem. Only citizens can play for Israel.
There are plenty of talented Jewish flag football players abroad. Most are not Israeli citizens.

So he had a stubborn idea. Bring them to Israel. Train them here. Let them earn their place on the national team. And then apply for citizenship.

My role was relatively straightforward.
It was mentorship, sponsored via MATI Jerusalem For Olim
Helping him see where the resources might come from, and the order in which things needed to happen.
I challenged him to go further.

The rest was his. Recruiting the sponsors. Lodgings. Food. Travel. Insurance. He found 20 players, mainly from the USA. They landed in Israel in late June for a month of training.

Matt has made a little money out of it. But this was never just about money in the bank. He has invested has been time, effort and a lot of sweat.

And the next stage is already forming.
He is looking at a bigger cohort, greater prospects of sponsorship deals, and more participants than before.

Last Friday, the group played a tournament at the Kraft Stadium in Jerusalem, and there were women's teams. It was a huge success. I was thrilled to be present. And Matt is in the clip attached.

Matt had met with much scepticism along the way. He overcame some family difficulties. He kept going anyway.

Theodor Herzl is considered the father of modern political zionism. Over 100 years ago, he wrote: "If you will it, it is no dream."

Israel may yet win a flag football medal in 2028. If it does, remember this. It started with one person, a stubborn idea, and a plan.

This was never just a financial adventure.
It is a sports programme that benefits the whole country.

That is what I mean when I say anyone can build a business that has purpose. Not that it's easy. Just that it's possible.

I resisted AI longer than I’d like to admit.

Not because I don’t believe in it—
Because I don’t have time to learn it.

I’ve been mentoring businesses for over 30 years.
Most of the owners I work with are the same:

Busy.
Capable.
And quietly avoiding this whole thing.

Not out of laziness—
Out of overload.

Too many tools.
Too many opinions.
Too much noise.

So here’s what changed for me:

I stopped trying to understand AI.

And started using it—badly at first—on one small task.

That one change now saves me about 90 minutes a month. ⏳
