Did you know that if you pay Israeli taxes, the government practically gives you back ₪70 for each ₪200 you donate to Israeli charities? The Israeli tax authorities reduce your taxes by 35% of contributions to organizations approved under "section 46."
To encourage you to take advantage of this, I'd like to share a cause that is close to my heart. https://causematch.com/hayim/huber
Dr. Hayim Katsman z"l is the son of my dear friend, Hannah Wacholder Katsman and the nephew of my fellow financial professional Aaron Katsman, Lighthouse Capital. He was killed on October 7 on Kibbutz Holit, while saving his neighbor's life. Hayim studied religion and politics and worked toward peace and coexistence, as a lecturer, gardener, and DJ who played Arabic music.
Here's what the community garden coordinator in Rahat said (translated): “Hayim Katsman wasn’t just someone who helped and supported us. His was a rare soul: his giving came from love, his eye perceived everyone, and his heart was always open. He was part of the genesis of this place, and, without him, nothing is the same. Since his death, every visit here elicits a memory of him. We continue to plant, to build, to cultivate, and in every such action he is with us.
I find myself thinking about Hayim a lot, especially when times are tough. What would he have said? How would he have solved the problem? How would he have offered comfort? His presence lives in this garden – in its soil, plants, and light. At the same time, we will always feel his absence.”
Please support his legacy be a part of establishing a Sustainability Center in the Beduin city of Rahat, where Hayim taught Hebrew and volunteered with local residents to establish two community gardens.
The Center, containing greenhouses, classrooms and a recycling room, will educate residents of Rahat and the surrounding area about conservation and ecology. The center, under the auspices of the Israel Association for Community Centers, will reflect Hayim's values and continue his life's work.
To receive an Israeli tax receipt, please donate in NIS. All other currencies will receive a US tax receipt.
