Every year I see myself one ‘unrealistic’ goal; you know, the sort everyone rbss avoid because they think it’s impossible and don’t want to say they’ve failed when they don’t achieve it?
A year ago my body fat was 20%. For some that is a perfectly acceptable number and I was okay with it (after all I have a very seeet tooth) but I thought ‘Why not 8%; why not try to reach the impossible number?’
Step 1.
Decide what you want - and I mean really want.
Step 2
Commit to it. Unconditionally.
So I committed to increase my existing ‘home gym’ regime and started working with the brilliant at and I’m proud to have reached 10.5% body fat. There’s still 2.5% to go and whilst it’s definitely not easy I WILL get to 8%, simply by committing, accountability and repetition.
The truth is, most mornings I don’t feel like training. It’s far more comfortable to stay in bed……just 30 more minutes. ‘I can do it tomorrow instead.’
But when you set a clear goal, you have to decide how serious you really are about achieving it.
For me, this journey has been about staying focused, even on the days when I didn’t feel motivated, and doing the work anyway. Eating well when I wanted a bar of chocolate. Logging my calories when I was tired or busy.
But that’s why accountability matters so much. When you are accountable to somebody else, when somebody is holding you to the standard you said you wanted for yourself, it becomes much harder to make excuses. And that is where real progress happens.
This has been about much more than dropping body fat. It has been about discipline, consistency, clear goals, and keeping the promises I made to myself. Principles we can replicate in any area of our lives.
Thank you, Elliot, for your support, encouragement and for making it tough - because, as we know, success isn’t comfortable.
