It’s been a busy few weeks in the investment markets.

Last week the FTSE100 (🇬🇧) fell by 3% and saw the S&P 500 (🇺🇸) fall by 4.7% - after the announcement of increased interest rates which are dominating the media at the moment.

Whilst investors are used to ups and downs with investment returns, 2022 is lining up to be a year to forget for many.

However, taking action with investments based on short term events could be a reactionary approach to regret in years to come.

Most advised investors are aware, and understand, that volatility is part and parcel of the investment cycle. Provided investors have a diverse portfolio, investing in a range of global funds and underlying assets, then remaining with current investment strategies, remembering the long term goal, is likely to be the best course of action. Of course, there will always be variables but as any investment adviser would explain, there cannot be highs without the lows.

After a couple of busy weeks I’m delighted to have joined Pearson Wealth Management Ltd as an Independent Financial Planner. 🤝

Going to an independent firm will allow me to offer the best in terms of providers and investment choices for my clients in all areas of financial planning.

Aside from that, things will remain the same for my existing and new clients in terms of the service and advice.

Looking forward to this new chapter.

Working hard or hardly working?

To be fair this was over the weekend so a bit of both! 😂

I’d love to say Vogue (my daughter) has a passion for finances and investing but for now I think drawing doggies and circles is hard enough work.

Talking to people every day about their finances is both a great privilege and a great responsibility.

The majority of investors rely on advice and expertise from a professional when making decisions with regards to their money, and so it’s a Financial Planners responsibility to ensure we cater for, understand and can be trusted by all clients of all levels of understanding, experience and vulnerability.

Vulnerability is a broad term and doesn’t just mean the elderly. Someone going through a life event such as a divorce, bereavement or mental health illness (for example) could be making financial decisions during a turbulent time in their lives, and as a financial professional it’s my duty to ensure I’m looking out for my clients best interests, as always, taking these potential external factors in to account.

I signed up to the Financial Vulnerability Taskforce Charter last year, as a way of giving my clients the confidence that I am working with them, with their best interests at the forefront of any advice.
