Sometimes I hear my clients say that insurer's never pay out on their claims, there is no point taking this cover. From a financial advisers perspective, our regulator (FCA) and compliance would expect us to analyse our clients protection first, before we look at their retirement planning for obvious reasons. If you have a long term sickness and you don't have cover then you won't be able to pay into your pension anyway.

Here's the latest from Legal & General today, which I think is quite impressive.

In 2022 we helped 17,768 families, paying over £883m in claims. This equates to 48 families' helped and £2.4m paid daily. And over the last 5 years, we've paid out over £3.8bn in claims.
