Love having a bit of LBC on in the background and something on Paul Brand’s show today really caught my attention.
The discussion was around young people and NEETs and it got me thinking about my own start.
Nearly 20 years ago, Chris Churchill at West Dorset District Council took a chance on me. I’ll always be grateful for that and for the managers and mentors since who have passed on their wisdom along the way.
If you’re struggling to get your first foot on the ladder, why not consider working for yourself?
Start small. Wash cars, cut grass, sell something, offer a service.
You’ll learn sales, customer service, problem solving, money management, communication and resilience. Sometimes the School of Hard Knocks is the best teacher.
And with those skills under your belt, you suddenly become a much stronger hire.
We’re always here to help, so if you are considering it, get in touch.
