Check the status of your refund on your schedule. IRS.gov offers two different ways for you to do this. First option: Use your Online Account. Don't have an account? Your second option is to use our refund tracker. All you need is your exact refund amount, Social Security number, filing status and tax year. The status is available as soon as 24 hours after you e-file a current year return.

HMRC has estimated that around a million people missed the 31 January 2026 Self Assessment tax return filing deadline.

As usual, there was a significant rush on deadline day itself with nearly half a million people filing on 31 January, including more than 27,000 in the final hour before midnight. Despite this, it seems that a million people missed the deadline altogether.

Anyone who still needs to file should do so as soon as possible to prevent further penalties. If you need help filing your tax return, please get in touch. We would be happy to help you.
