If you have self-employment or property income, here are 3 things you need to do NOW!
If you have earnings over £50,000 in self employment or and property income, you need to:
Get Digital – You’ll need accounting software (such as Quickbooks) to keep your records and submit quarterly updates. Spreadsheets won’t cut it anymore.
Prepare for More Frequent Reporting – Instead of one tax return a year, you’ll submit four quarterly updates and an End of Period Statement.
Stay Flexible – HMRC still hasn’t finalised all the details (which comes as no surprise), so some rules may change. But getting into the habit now will make the transition much easier.
HMRC will be looking at the 2024-2025 self assessment tax return as a basis of who is to be enrolled on to the new scheme.
If you’re earning over £50k from self-employment or property, this WILL affect you from April 2026 (and from April 2027 if you earn over £30k).
