📚| SCHOOL'S OUT(DOORS) FOR SUMMER

When we can help our community, we will.

We’re really proud to have supported Croftlands Junior School in bringing their outdoor classroom dream to life. 🌿

Thanks to the incredible dedication of the PTFA, alongside support from the Hornby Foundation, the school now has a purpose-built space designed to support learning, creativity and wellbeing.

The new cabin will be used for small group teaching, reading sessions and Forest School activities, as well as providing a calm environment for pupils who benefit from more focused support.

It’s a brilliant example of what can be achieved when a community comes together and we’re delighted to have played a part in a project that will benefit pupils for years to come 👏

📄 | KEY TAX DATES TO KNOW (COMING UP)

Staying on top of your deadlines makes everything that bit easier, here are a few to keep on your radar over the coming months 👇

🔹 31 MAY 2026 – P60 DEADLINE
If you employ staff, you must provide employees with their P60 by this date.

🔹 6 JULY 2026 – P11D DEADLINE
This is when you report employee benefits (such as company cars or private healthcare) to HMRC.

🔹 31 JULY 2026 – SECOND PAYMENT ON ACCOUNT
If you complete a Self Assessment tax return, this is when your second payment towards your tax bill may be due.

💡 Missing deadlines can lead to penalties or interest, so it’s always worth getting organised early and avoiding any last-minute rush.

Knowing what you can claim helps you stay compliant and avoid paying more tax than you need to.

💡 Here’s what HMRC says you can claim:
• Office costs (e.g. stationery, phone bills)
• Travel costs (e.g. fuel, parking, train or bus fares)
• Clothing (uniforms only)
• Staff costs (salaries or subcontractors)
• Stock or raw materials you buy to sell
• Financial costs (insurance or bank charges)
• Business premises costs (heating, lighting, rates)
• Advertising and marketing (e.g. website costs)
• Training courses related to your business

⚖️ What about mixed-use expenses?
If something is used for both business and personal reasons (like your phone or home), you can only claim the business portion and you’ll need a reasonable method to work that out.

⏳ Getting this wrong can mean overpaying tax or facing HMRC questions.
