Today is Arwen's 1st birthday... 1 year of being a Mum ❤️.

It's utterly mad as the year has just flown in.

Happy Mother's Day!

We hope you have a lovely day whether you are a 👶 Mum or a 🐕 🐈 (and others) Mum.

I'm planning on getting the Office Assistants (🐕 🐕) out for a walk if the weather holds... I say if the weather holds because Whippets definitely aren't water dogs... they will melt if they go walking In the rain!

🥳 Happy Budget Day 🥳

By the end of today, we will know what the Government intends to implement from 05th April - the new Tax Year and for many the new Financal Year!

I'll be discussing the key points later today when the info has been released and I've had chance to look over the announcement 🔍.

Today also marks my birthday 🎂 which is kind of ironic really and shares her day this Year with the Budget reveal 😆 🤣! I'm feeling cake and coffee today ☕️🧁!

So your Finance Year End follows the Tax Year so what should you do now?

If your Bookkeeper/Accountant does your Bookkeeping annually:
✅️ Cross check your now organised receipts/invoices against Bank Statements and Petty Cash book so all are present
✅️ Make a note sheet of anything you may need to let your Accountant know - New 🚗? New 👩‍💻? Any debts that need writing off... anything important!
❌️ Don't leave this to the last minute otherwise it WILL be a mad rush!

If you do your own Bookkeeping:
✅️ Cross check anyway as you need to be sure you have all your paperwork together as you need to keep this for 6️⃣ years from end of the Financial Year End it relates to.
❌️ Don't destroy your documents before the 6 Year's are up!

Also did you know you can keep all your records electronically now? You just need to be sure you can easily access them when needed!

Interestingly, one of the explanations of this saying is thought to go back to old English when there was a belief that evil witches were around... Apparently, 'pinch' refers to salt and 'punch' refers to getting rid of the witches 🧙‍♀️ 🪄 🧹.

📅 Today is deadline day for Self Assessments 📅

If the HMRC haven't told you otherwise, you MUST have submitted your Return TODAY otherwise you will face penalties and also interest on any payment that should have been made to the HMRC!

Hint 1: DO NOT LEAVE SUBMISSION UNTIL 23:55 - you are tempting fate too much! Make sure you have given yourself plenty of time...

If you haven't filed your Self Assessment Tax Return AND your tax payment (if it's due) isn't RECEIVED by HMRC by the end of tomorrow*... then you will likely encounter penalties and interest.

With the Self Assessment deadline looming, I saw this and it made me smile.

🥳 It's the same every year for Accountants and Bookkeepers - 'Happy New Year' means a stressful Jan getting everyone's Returns drafted, authorised and submitted before the 31st. 🥳
