To be clear, I love Mrs Chat. She’s my therapist, parenting helpline, “am I over-reacting” sounding board, and she’s even my content checker to ensure I’m being compliant and not toooooo unhinged 👀🤣

But if your entire financial plan is based on asking ChatGPT a few questions and hoping for the best…

This video might be a fairly accurate representation of the process. 😂

Jokes aside, information is everywhere.

The real value is in thinking outside the box for your individual situation, both now and in the future, using human experience to interpret what matters, what changes over time, and what actually moves you closer to your goals.

🇬🇧 London 🇬🇧

Last year, I asked Harry to tell me some places he’d like to go on holiday. One of these was London “to see Big Ben” ☺️

Definitely recommend going on the clipper up the Thames and letting children sit right at the front, was a lovely way to see everything but with air con 👌🏻 and pram suitable too.

The Maritime Museum was fab, again air con & pram suitable, free entry and loads of interactive things for children. We saw Nelson’s actual coat!

Going on the London Eye was a surprise for Harry… I was very worried about queues due to half term and even worse in the heat, so I got queue jump flexi tickets which meant timings didn’t matter (taking an 8 month old baby to London in a heat wave was a gamble 🤣🥵 luckily she was a legend!)

I also gave Harry my old digital camera (off of nights out in the 00s 🤣 I did suitability check the SD card before I handed it over!) which meant he was able to take snaps of anything he wanted.

We had a wonderful time away, thank you to everyone who helped man the fort at home 🫶🏻

Financial avoidance is a strategy until it is not.

One day it is “I will deal with that later” and the next it is everything arriving at once. Suddenly it is pensions, protection, tax and life admin all at once.

Adulting really does have a way of catching up quietly.

Apex dance scene trend version…. You’ve got til the end of this song to get as far away from me as you can… or maybe now’s the time 👀

If you have not looked at your pension in a while, it can be hard to know where to start

These are three simple things that can help build a basic understanding

💖Where it is invested
💖What it is currently worth
💖How much is being contributed

You do not need to know everything straight away

But having a rough idea of these can be a useful first step in understanding how your pension is working for you

Individual circumstances will vary

Most people are not actively choosing to ignore their pension

🧐It is often because it feels far away
🧐It can seem complicated
🧐And there is no immediate reward for engaging with it

So it gets pushed down the priority list

But over time, small actions and understanding how it works can have a meaningful impact

It is not about doing everything at once…. but not leaving it untouched for years

When you think about getting a new horse….

Just a few weeks after giving birth….

And there’s a hay shortage….

And you’re not taking maternity leave because you run your own business….

And you’re a financial adviser so should be making smart money decisions 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Can’t put a price on happiness 😍

(And he does fit in all my existing tack and rugs so from a girl maths point of view….)

De Christmasing the house and de cluttering finances next ✨

If your resolutions/ goals only exist in your head, this is your sign to write them down.

If one of them is to take control of your finances, here’s a checklist to get you started:

💸 Check your life cover
💸 Check your sick pay entitlement/ income protection insurance
💸 Check where all your pensions are, and think about when you want to retire/ how much income you might need in retirement

And of course for all my followers who call me a nag… HAVE YOU GOT A WILL??!!?🤔🤨

Don’t forget to think about the big life plan of all the things/ bucket list to help you work backwards as a timeline for financial goals 💰

Let’s make 2026 the year that you feel in the driving seat with your financial situation and hope you wrapped up the fairy lights neatly so they’re easy to put up next year 🤣

This is financial education not financial advice

“How much should you have in your pension pot”

There are SO many variables and it is so individual, that I just HATE those sorts of titles on posts.

It really depends on when you want to retire, how you feel about attitude to risk, what your spending habits are like now, what you want your retirement to look like, how much you are investing now, whether your mortgage will be paid off by the time you retire, your state pension forecast….. I could go on!!

So in my opinion, a click bait style headline giving a number isn’t that helpful at all…
