The Government has confirmed proposals to replace the Lifetime ISA with a new First-Time Buyer ISA, removing withdrawal penalties and focusing the product entirely on helping people save for their first home.
Nick Feetenby, Associate Director of Mortgages, shares his thoughts:
“It’s great to see the Government recognise the need to support first-time buyers in getting on the property ladder. If implemented, this should provide a real incentive for those saving for their deposit, while complementing existing schemes such as enhanced affordability options from lenders and low-deposit mortgages that are already working to reduce the barriers buyers face.
Knowing which schemes are available, and how to make the most of them, can make a significant difference. Our fee-free mortgage advisers are well placed to guide all buyers through their options and support them every step of the way.”
