🏆 On Wednesday night, we were named 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 at the ProfessionalAdviser Awards 2026 and we are absolutely delighted!

The judges praised our “very high” NPS score (a measure of how likely our clients are to recommend us), said we have “set very high standards,” and described Henwood Court as “clearly a customer focused business determined to deliver a great experience.”

Words like that mean everything to us, because they reflect exactly what we set out to do every single day. Financial planning is about more than wealth, it’s about our clients, their lives, and the futures we help them build.

We were proudly represented on the evening by Peter Robbins, our Director of Investment and Technical, and well done to him for getting the award home in one piece!

As Peter said, “Moments like this are worth celebrating, but they also remind us there’s always more we can do and aspire to achieve for our clients.”

Yesterday we hosted the second session of our Pensions, Inheritance Tax & Estate Planning Masterclass, an exclusive in person event for clients and invited guests.

The sold out session saw a fantastic turnout, with discussions covering planning strategies such as pension drawdown, gifting tax free cash and the use of whole of life policies to help manage potential inheritance tax liabilities, alongside real world examples and audience Q&A.

These events are a great opportunity to discuss important planning considerations ahead of the upcoming changes while connecting with our client community.

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐩 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

What a start to the year it has been at Henwood Court Financial Planning Limited.

The first few months of 2026 have flown by and there has already been plenty happening behind the scenes. Growth across the business, some fantastic achievements from the team, and a few very special personal milestones too.

We were delighted to welcome Tom Stone to the team in January as our new Onboarding Chartered Wealth Manager. He has already made a brilliant impact and it has been great to see how quickly he has settled in.

January also marked an incredible 20 years at Henwood Court for Katherine Woolley. Anyone who knows Kitty will know how much care and dedication she brings to everything she does. We are incredibly lucky to have her!

A huge congratulations as well to Kurtis Bedward, who has passed his final R06 exam and is now officially Diploma qualified.

We have also been investing in improving the way we work, including introducing a new communications system to make things even more seamless for our team and clients.

On a more personal note, we have had some lovely celebrations too. Yvonne Till has become a grandma, welcoming a beautiful baby boy to the family, and Julia O’Leary recently celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary in India, which looked incredible!

It has also been wonderful to see the brilliant turnout and feedback we have had since our Pensions and Inheritance Tax Masterclass webinar, and we look forward to the exclusive in person seminar we are hosting this Thursday at .🙌🏼

This month we celebrate an incredible milestone. 20 years of Katherine, known to us all as Kit, Kitty and of course Kitster, at Henwood Court.

Kit is a truly exceptional member of our team. Steadfast and very much the lifeblood of our business. She knows HC inside and out and is trusted implicitly by us all. Loved by clients and colleagues alike, her impact over the years has been immeasurable.

We will always think of her as ‘Young Kit’, but it has been wonderful to watch her grow in so many ways. From becoming a wife to the proud mum of three beautiful children, all while continuing to give so much to the business. Add in her wicked sense of humour and legendary one liners and there is never a dull moment thanks to Kitster.

We are incredibly lucky to have found Kit. She is truly invaluable to us.

We did it! Mission 10,000 complete 🥳

We’re so happy to announce that we’ve officially completed Henwoods Mission 10,000, virtually travelling around the globe from our offices in Sutton Coldfield all the way to Beijing, China, after collectively walking, running, and cycling 10,000 miles for Annabelle’s Challenge💜.

Together, we’ve raised an incredible £2,900+ for a charity that’s incredibly close to our hearts, through our very own Lynette.

This challenge has truly brought us together as a team and wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of everyone who donated and cheered us on. Your generosity and encouragement really haven’t gone unnoticed.

This week, some of our team were proud to take part in Bags for Brummies 2025🙌🏼

An inspiring initiative led by LoveBrum, a Birmingham-based charity supporting the city’s hidden-gem projects with one simple goal: to make Birmingham even better.

Over the past few weeks, members of our team have been collecting essential items to create care packages for local homeless charities across Birmingham. With recent estimates suggesting nearly 12,000 people are sleeping rough across the city, initiatives like this provide much-needed warmth, comfort and reassurance during the cold winter months and truly can make a positive difference.

Have you thought about how the new Inheritance Tax rules could affect what happens to your pension when you’re gone?

As we approach the next Autumn Budget, there’s plenty of talk about possible tax changes. One confirmed shift from last year’s announcement is set to have a real impact on how many people plan for retirement and their legacy.

From 6 April 2027, any unused pension funds will become part of your estate for Inheritance Tax (IHT) purposes.

This is a significant change. For nearly a decade, pensions have been one of the most tax-efficient ways to pass on wealth, usually sitting outside the estate for IHT. Under the new rules, these funds could now face up to a 40% IHT charge, depending on the overall value of your estate.
