Entertainment does not just work for business purposes but the correct choice of entertainment can help in increasing and expanding your business. There are HMRC guidelines of what comes under the definition of entertainment.

- If you have provided free food and drink to the customers or employees
- The provision of free accommodation to the recipient
- If you buy tickets to a cultural event for your overseas customers
- Free entry to theatre and concert tickets
- Free entry to clubs and other such facilities
- If you buy tickets for your customers for a sporting event.
- Any costs incurred while hiring third-party organisers to organise the corporate event.
- Free Vouchers, samples, and business gifts

Entertainment provided just for the sake of entertainment may not be considered, but if the entertainment provided was for the sole purpose of business then HMRC may consider the costs as allowable.

You might not even know if you've been providing entertainment to your customers and could have claimed tax reliefs in return.

If you're unsure of what can be considered as business entertainment, give us a call ☎️

We are receiving more and more worried calls and text from our clients recently after they have had calls and even letters from scammers claiming they are from HMRC. The calls are advising that you are under a fraud investigation and if you do not press 1 then you will be arrested. We are suggesting that you do not press 1 under any circumstances. If you do or have received one of these calls (or a similar letter) and are concerned please hang up, find the correct telephone number for the HMRC service you use on gov.uk, and call HMRC yourself. Do not call back the number that the initial call was made from (or the number on any letter without looking up the number on gov.uk). Alternatively contact your accountant and they should be able to look into this for you.

FLEXIBLE FURLOUGH - EMPLOYERS

Flexible furlough begins on 1st July. You decide the hours and shift patterns your employees work to suit the needs of your business. You'll pay their wages for the time they are in work and can apply for the job retention scheme grant to cover any of their usual hours they are still furloughed for. You can still keep employees on full furlough if you need to.

When the scheme closes on 31st October, you must decide, depending on your circumstances, as to whether the employees can return to their normal hours. If not, it may be necessary to consider reducing their hours, or a termination of employment (redundancy) Normal redundancy rules apply to furloughed employees.

SELF EMPLOYED INCOME SUPPORT SCHEME

HMRC will this week start to contact people who are eligible for the Self Employed Income Support Scheme. Please have a look at the link below to see if you are eligible, how you will make a claim and how HMRC calculate the grants. For existing clients please let me know if you need my help with anything.

If you would like to know more about our services and any help available please send me a message and I will be more than happy to help.

We are aware of an increase in scam emails, calls and texts. Eligible customers will be invited to claim through GOV.UK – it is the only service you can use. If someone gets in touch with you claiming to be from HMRC, saying that financial help can be claimed or that a tax refund is owed, and asks you to click on a link or to give information such as your name, credit card or bank details, you should not respond. It is a scam.

If you're self-employed or a member of a partnership and have been adversely affected by coronavirus (COVID-19) find out if you can use this scheme to claim a grant.
