📢 Important Update for UK Company Directors & PSCs – New Identity Verification Rules! 🇬🇧
From 18 November 2025, Companies House has introduced mandatory identity verification for all company directors and Persons with Significant Control (PSCs) as part of major reforms under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023.
Here’s what you need to know:
🔍 Who must verify their identity?
✔️ All new and existing company directors
✔️ Individuals with significant control over a company (PSCs)
✔️ Equivalent roles such as managing officers and LLP members aren’t fully in scope yet, but more changes are coming.
🗓 Deadlines
📌 New directors/PSCs – must verify their identity when they are appointed or when a new company is incorporated.
📌 Existing directors – must verify before filing your next Confirmation Statement (CS01).
📌 Existing PSCs – will have a deadline set within a 12-month transition period after 18 Nov 2025.
🔑 What you’ll receive
Once verified, you will receive a unique personal Companies House code, which must be included in filings such as confirmation statements.
⚠️ Why this matters
These changes are designed to:
✔️ Improve transparency and accuracy of the UK companies register
✔️ Combat fraud and misuse of corporate identities
✔️ Increase trust in UK business information systems
Failure to comply can mean:
❌ Being unable to file statutory documents
❌ Penalties for both individuals and companies
❌ Potential offences for acting as a director without verification
💡 Quick tip: Directors and PSCs are encouraged to verify as early as possible to avoid last-minute issues—especially before your next company filing deadline!
