Avoid HMRC's Capital Gains Tax grab!

HMRC has a growing interest in your investments.

Why? To increase its income from Capital Gain Tax.

Three ways to minimise your Capital Gain Tax bill:
1. Use your annual CGT allowance (currently £3,000) ... every year.
2. Maximise investments inside an ISA.
3. Remember your pension - investments inside pensions are free from CGT.

Would you like to minimise your tax payments?

Saving money for our clients is our superpower! Let's talk.

HMRC is moving to mandatory payrolling of most Benefits in Kind.

If you’re not already reporting benefits and expenses using the Full Payment Submission (FPS) process, you need to make the change by 6 April 2027. (This is the same system you use to report salary details to HMRC.)

The summer 5% VAT rate is here. Have you had a good look?

The temporary 5% VAT rate means that trips to the cinema, zoo, theme parks and soft play areas could cost you less between 25 June and 1 September 2026. “Could” is the key word here.

The reduced VAT level definitely applies. However, businesses are not legally required to pass on the VAT savings to customers.

So, do your homework before you set off. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy a budget-friendly, family summer. Have fun!

For small businesses, late payments can be the difference between surviving and thriving.

Late payments remain one of the biggest hazards for SMEs in 2025. The government estimates that small businesses are owed over £20 billion in unpaid invoices at any given time. That’s a huge amount of debt!

Here are six areas that can help payments arrive on time: https://lnkd.in/e__pfG34

After 15 years without a change, the Government has finally increased the approved mileage allowance rate for business drivers.

From the 2026/27 tax year, the HMRC mileage rate for cars and vans will rise from 45p to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles. That’s a noticeable increase for anyone using their own car for work.

This is a long-awaited announcement given the huge increase in motoring costs since the last mileage rate update in 2011.

If you have any concerns, please talk to the friendly team at re:accounts. We stay up to date with all the current rates and allowances and are happy to reassure you or outline the steps you need to take.
